HUSSAINIYAT- A School of thought 1

Muharam Ul haram… A month of sorrows and grief. Ashora the 10th of Muharam always begets a vivid recollection of the “incident of Karbala” dates back to almost 61A.H.

The recollections never faded out (we can consider it as a “will of God”) due mainly to the mournings, processions, grand orations, and rhymings of “nohey”, by the second largest sect of Islam i.e. Shia sect. It doesn’t imply that the other sects of Islam do not comply to those historical and religious facts that have influenced the whole dimensions of right and wrong.

Unfortunately, sectarianism contaminated and manipulated the historical facts and it became a subject of rivalry on many grounds.

However, for Muslims all over the world, the incident of KARBALA is a symbolism of a tug-war between two energies(positive and negative), two powers ( good and evil) and two choices ( right and wrong). Considering the optic, it was a blatant massacre of Ahl-e- Bait Athar, the choosen, the sacred descendants of Prophet Muhammad SAW. But from there emerged a magnific school of thought which lasted for eternity. This school of thought is generally recognized as “HUSSAINIYAT” with the name of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A).

Husaainiyat is an ideology, a specific worldview which shapes the thinking and perception of different aspects of life. If I have to explain the concept it will be difficult for me to bring it in a microcosm. However, allow me to justify with the true essence of the mystical concept of Husaainiyat.

As I referred it as a school of thought so it contains multiple perspectives which includes mainly religious, moral and political prospects.

I will stick to the religious and moral grounds which demystifies the philosphy of Husaainiyat as ;

– the depiction of unconditional love for Islam

– the obedience and compliance to prophet Muhammad (SAW)

– the magnificent expression of unshakable faith and determination

– the decisive power to choose right among multiple wrongs

– the courage to dismantle the evil despite having cognizance about consequences it holds

– the daringness to overcome the insurmountable hurdles

– the stern rock against painful brutalities

– the tolerance to bear the irresistible pain

And

– the patience to absorb the ultimate sorrow, agony and anguish

Hazrat imam Hussain (R.A) protected Islam from being amalgamated. He was the only diviner and spokesman of Islam at the time. He (R.A) presaged, if by any chance, had he handshaked with yazeed there would not be anyone left who could recognise the delicate line between right and wrong , who could demarcate truth and falsity.

He preferred martyrdom along with 72 sacred souls but did not accept the BAIT of yazeed.

Sar dad na dad

Dast dar daste yazeed

Haqqa k binaye lailah hast Hussain ( Moin ud Din Chisti)

AHL E BAIT was brutally martyred but what remained is the  name of Hussain as a protector of Deen – e- Islam. Karballa has truly rejuvenated Islam for eternity .

Aptly versed by Muhammad Ali Jouhar

“Islam zinda hota hy her karbala k baad “

Sadly, today it has become a trend to join shiaism, without comprehending the essence of Hussainiyat— the philosophy of life. Brands offering black attires to celebrate Muharram. People think mournings as the only solution to recognize with Imam Hussain (R.A).

Whereas, only mourning, noha gari, and processions are not enough. We should abide by the principles of Hussainiyat, only then we can proudly become a part of Shian-e- Ali. Regardless of any sect we belong , we need to incorporate the message of Hussainiyat in our lives. We need to redefine the delicate lines of right and wrong, good and evil.

May Allah bless us to follow Deen e Islam in its true spirit …
